Hackathon 1: Study of the genetic susceptibility to COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 human host pathogen interactions

The PHINDaccess project organizes its first hackathon on “The study of the genetic susceptibility to COVID19 and SARS-CoV-2 human host pathogen interactions”, on September 1st-9th, 2020 at the Institut Pasteur de Tunis.

This hackathon consists of the analysis of OMICs data available in public databases for the SARS-CoV-2 viral genome as well as the human host in order to study the genetic susceptibility to the disease in the Tunisian population and investigate host-pathogen interactions.

Participants to this hackathon are expected to develop bioinformatics pipelines related to:

  • SARS-CoV-2 genome analysis and genome comparison between publically available strains as well as the study of the phylogeography of the virus and its transmission routes through time.
  • Human genome analysis and the identification of variants potentially associated with the susceptibility to the COVID19.
  • Identification of viral and human proteins involved in host pathogen interactions.

and apply what they have learned in the frame of the PHINDaccess WP2 course series on real OMICS data to solve intriguing biological questions.

This hackathon is organized in collaboration with TriOMICS-CoV, a project funded by the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

This hackathon is restricted to the young researchers previously selected from IPT's research labs and to 6 candidates from the Institut Pasteur International Network.
